Dear Living Lord Community,

After prayerful consideration, the Council of Living Lord has made the decision not to re-open the Living Lord Preschool for the  2020-21 school year.  A number of factors weighed into the decision; a deficit budget, decline in enrollment and recent revisions on the class size mandated by DCFS and IDPH, and of course the health concerns for all children.  Any excess funds, after registration refunds, will be held in a restricted reserve account for this next year and all furnishings and equipment will remain as is at Living Lord.

We highly value the health and safety of each child that attends school or church here and will always seek the best for all children and their families.  Because things are very uncertain in the world right now with the COVID-19 pandemic, no decisions about the 2021-22 school year are being made at this time.  We will be using this year to re-evaluate our programming, facility and offerings to support and assist families and children in our area.  We will be forming a task force to look into all possibilities for ministry to families and children and if you would like to be involved in this research please let us know.

Because of this closing, we will be saying goodbye to our preschool staff.  We give thanks to Ms. Nancy Collins and Ms. Shana Volberding who have been our staff at the preschool.  Nancy has been with Living Lord for 18 years on staff in a variety of positions.  She served not only as a teacher and then director of preschool, but directing Sunday School, VBS, summer camps, and coordinating the nursery.   She has also been a valued member of Living Lord for 25 years.  She will be missed as a member of our staff and  by the children she taught.  Shana has only been with the preschool these last two years, and served in the nursery, but has loved her time with all the children and families.  We know you will join the Council and staff in expressing your appreciation for all this work over the years.

As we seek God’s guidance in what our next steps will be we also give thanks to those in Living Lord who had the vision 39 years ago to meet the community needs with a preschool.  Through these years many have served on staff or on the board and nurtured the school with their time, efforts and prayers.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.

We are excited to see what God has in store for us next.

In peace,

Stephanie McKinley, President
