“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way
you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
— Proverbs 22:6
FEAR NOT!
It’s Only a Test

Many of our community care ministries and missions activities are carried out through the Social Ministry Team. Jesus said, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another” (John 13:34). The Social Ministry team works to follow this commandment by ministering to the needs of those in and around our community through the following activities and more. (For a complete listing of Living Lord’s missions and ministries, download our Service Opportunities booklet.)

Other ministries include:

Food Pantry Ministries
Living Lord Church is a covenant congregation with Feeding Northwest DuPage (formerly known as the Northwest DuPage Walk-In Ministry). As such, our congregation gives regular offerings of food and money to help support this ministry, which includes food pantries and financial assistance to those in need. Feeding Northwest DuPage has three food pantry locations. The pantry nearest Living Lord Church is located at Resurrection Catholic Community, on Army Trail Road just West of Route 59, in Wayne. Living Lord members and friends also regularly contribute groceries and money to the Hanover Township Food Pantry (located in Bartlett) and the Humanitarian Service Project in Carol Stream.

QuiltersHelping Hands Fund
Through the Helping Hands Fund, Living Lord purchases food certificates for the needy within our congregation. The fund also is used to pay an occasional utility bill or help pay for counseling services. Members and friends of Living Lord Church contribute to this fund.

Loving Hands Quilters
The members of this quilting ministry make more than 100 quilts per year and donate them to needy people in our community and all over the world, through local organizations such as Warm Wishes and international organizations such as Lutheran World Relief. The group meets Tuesday mornings 8:30 - 11:30 AM at Living Lord. New members are always welcome!

Knitting Ministries
Living Lord has a Prayer Shawl Ministry and a Baptismal Afghans Ministry. Those who crochet or knit are invited to get involved. Prayer shawls are given to those in our community who are going through a rough time, to remind them they are wrapped in God’s love and the prayers of our congregation. Contact Pastor Jean Duran for patterns, instructions, and yarn. Baptismal afghans are given to remind both the family and the child of the warmth of God’s love that surrounds them and welcomes them into God’s family. Contact Pastor Sue Allen for pattern suggestions and information.
