What Is Living Lord’s Sunday School Program All About?

Our mission is to Grow Disciples! To do this, we offer exciting Sunday morning activities for children from three years old through sixth grade. Many dedicated volunteer Sunday School teachers, helpers, and praise leaders help the children learn about God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and how to act on their faith in their daily lives. Sunday School is offered during the 9:00 and 10:30 AM worship hours.

Who Goes to Sunday School?

We offer three independent Sunday School programs, each designed for a specific age group: (1) preschoolers, (2) children in Kindergarten through fourth grade, and (3) fifth and sixth graders.

The Journey Begins Here.

Sunday School is the beginning of a lifelong journey of Christian discipleship and growth. We hope the whole family will get involved in learning about God’s love, no matter what the age. Parents are encouraged to attend a Bible study while their children are in Sunday School (or youth Bible study), and worship together as a family before or after their Christian-education time. Living Lord offers many adult education opportunities, on Sunday morning and throughout the week.

What Goes On in Preschool Sunday School?

Each Sunday, our preschoolers (ages 3-4 years) gather in the preschool room for their very own Sunday School program. Each engaging Session includes fun, Bible-centered activities, music, and crafts. In Preschool Sunday School, a warm and welcoming environment is emphasized, along with consistency from week to week.

Preschool Morning Schedule:

  1. Each week, parents bring their preschoolers directly to the Preschool room for their very own Sunday School activities.
  2. Parents sign in these children at the preschool classroom. The same teachers remain with their class for the entire school year, for consistency.
  3. The teachers lead the children to the opening worship and praise area, where they join the K-4th grade Sunday School kids for about 15 minutes.
  4. Then the preschoolers go back to their own classroom, where they start their lesson.
  5. The preschoolers learn key Bible stories and focus on each one for several weeks (much like the K-4th Sunday School). These younger children learn about the Bible in a way that’s designed just for them, using centers, story time, and other preschool-oriented teaching methods.
  6. At the end of the hour, the teachers use their attendance checklists to release the children to their parents.

What Goes On in K-4th Sunday School?

Sunday School for Kindergartners through fourth graders at Living Lord Church is based on the Workshop Rotation model, which has been around since the early 1990s and is used in more than 8,000 churches across the United States and Canada. Workshop Rotation Sunday School is a way to teach major Bible stories and concepts through kid-friendly, hands-on, multimedia “Workshops.” The children focus on one Bible story or lesson for up to five weeks, but learn it in different, interactive ways each week. Every Sunday, each grade level rotates to a different Workshop, where the children learn about God in dynamic and creative ways using a variety of media including computers, drama, movies, Bible stories, arts and crafts, and games. Each Round, or unit, has a memory verse to go along with its theme. The children open their Bibles every week and learn where and when each story takes place.

How Does the Rotation Work?

The children follow a Weekly Rotation Schedule. They know which Workshop to go to each week by the Workshop name and their grade color: Kindergarten is Green; First Grade is Red; Second Grade is Purple; Third Grade is Pink; and Fourth Grade is Yellow. Sunday School Greeters and Shepherds also help direct the children and their parents each week.

Our Workshops:

K-4th Grade Morning Schedule:

  1. K-4th grade children gather in the old sanctuary (with their Shepherd) for opening music while their parents sign them in on attendance clipboards organized by grade level.
  2. Gathering/Praise Leaders lead the opening music, announce the current unit’s theme, provide an offering basket, and give a send-off prayer.
  3. Shepherds guide their assigned age groups to the correct Workshop for that week.
  4. Workshop Leaders, Shepherds, and Helpers make the lesson come alive!
  5. At the end of the hour, parents pick up their children in their Workshop as the Shepherd checks off each student’s name on the attendance clipboard.

What’s Great

What’s Goes On in 5th-6th Grade Sunday School?

This exciting program for fifth and sixth graders is designed specifically for this “tween” age group. Consistent teacher-mentors guide the children through study topics that are relevant for their age as they begin to develop their relationship with Jesus on a deeper level. These lessons are fun and creative and connect with exciting activities at Midweek Mania (just for 5th-6th graders) on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:00 pm. (As with our other Sunday School programs, parents sign their children in and out each week.)

How Do We Register for Sunday School?

There are lots of opportunities (for teens through senior citizens!) to get involved and make Sunday School a success:
